Hey Jin,
I’m having a pretty weird morning. I quit my job last Thursday, for a lot of reasons, one of which is I read “1984″ by George Orwell, and I realized I was unhappy working for a call center that tracked your every movement. (they know when you go the bathroom etc.)
Today I woke up and decided to look up some old free style videos of your on 106 and Park because my boys and I were quoting it all weekend. I didn’t realize it until today, but even though you didn’t become the Chinese Jay-Z in terms of record sales (yet) you really did have a unique influence on the hip-hop community. I’m sure you don’t have millions of dollars to show for it, but in a lot of ways what you did was a lot more important that that, which I’m sure a lot of hip-hop artists could only dream of.
I’m just writing to you to let you know a few things.
1. I’m really into music as well, and even though I play guitar, I know my main influences growing up were largely rap. I realized today that my mark of success won’t be making millions of dollars being the Asian John Mayer, I’ll just be happy to tell my kids someday that I gave it a shot and made a few friends along the way, kinda like what you did.
2. I studied abroad in Honk Kong (HKU) in 2009 and all I want to do is go back, even though my Canto is whack. I’ve seen what you’ve been able to do there, I hope it only gets better.
3. I haven’t though of this in maybe 5 years, but I ACTUALLY MET YOU IN PERSON. I have a picture of us from some Hot Imports Night in Boston from a few years back. One day I’ll upload it for fun, but yeah it’s crazy to see where you’ve gone since then.
Take care dude, who knows maybe years from now I’ll run into you at 3 am dim sum in Hong Kong.

i love that you did this list and so proud you finished it! it’s little things like this that connect people just a little more. i respect you so much for wanting to connect and trying to connect – because in my mind – in the end, everything, everyone is connected together.

It was around 3-4am and I actually stayed up refreshing to read the 100 facts-such a great idea, first step to connect. Definitely learnt a few new facts!
So glad you did it…it reminded me why I’ve followed you and stuck by through all these years; why I have so much love and respect for you and why you continue to inspire me…so proud of the person you’ve become.

I think you lived a good life so far. Really you’ve done good and bad. Up’s and Down’s. And still going..
I think what has taking you to this point is, your fans mostly and yourself.
Now you can say God and bla bla. But I dont think we share the same beliefs. But why stop doing something you did really good?
